Purchasing Assistant in San Antonio, TX 78238
Pay:
$18-$20/hr

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for MRO goods and services, including identifying needs, generating purchase orders, and tracking deliveries.
- Source and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships.
- Analyze and monitor inventory levels of MRO supplies to ensure adequate stock while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and other internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure timely fulfilment of their needs.
- Obtain necessary authorizations and approvals for purchases in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Track and report on MRO spending, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and receiving issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information within the procurement system, ensuring order quantity, delivery dates, and pricing are up-to-date in the ERP system.
- Monitor supplier performance, address any issues, and proactively seek continuous improvement in supplier quality, delivery, and cost.
- Act as the primary on-site contact person to provide prompt and professional communications to suppliers regarding order status, delivery date management, and purchase order acknowledgments.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required to support purchasing activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Supply Chain department in support of supplier performance reporting, cost models, and projects related to cost reduction and other tasks as needed.
- Perform general clerical duties such as answering phones, greeting visitors, filing, and data entry as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations in all procurement activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of efficient MRO purchasing processes and best practices.
- Stay informed about market trends and changes in pricing and availability of MRO goods and services.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years’ experience in MRO purchasing or related procurement experience
- Proven experience in sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong understanding of procurement principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
