Prep/ Line Cook in Austin, TX 78705

Pay:

$16-17/hr

Schedule:

Monday- Sunday 6 am to 6pm rotating schedule 4 – 5 days a week

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines.
• Set up and operate the trayline, ensuring each tray is accurately assembled per dietary tickets or menus.
• Serve food items during trayline operation, ensuring correct portion sizes and presentation.
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain logs in accordance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with dietary aides and kitchen staff to ensure timely meal delivery.
• Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and trayline areas according to health codes.
• Ensure allergen control and dietary restriction compliance during tray assembly.
• Assist with receiving and storing food supplies as needed.
• Communicate any issues with food quality, equipment, or supply shortages to the supervisor promptly.
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies and procedures.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in food preparation or institutional cooking, preferably in a healthcare or cafeteria setting.
• Knowledge of dietary restrictions and food safety standards (e.g., HACCP).
• Ability to read and interpret diet cards, recipes, and production sheets.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
