Job Summary: 

We are seeking a highly skilled Horizontal Boring Mill Operator with strong setup and machining experience to produce large, complex components to precise tolerances. The ideal candidate will be proficient in machine setup, blueprint interpretation, tooling selection, and precision measurement.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Machine large castings, weldments, and fabricated components
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters
• Align, indicate, and secure large parts using fixtures and/or cranes
• Perform precision measurements using micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, calipers, and other inspection tools
• Maintain tight tolerances (±.001” or better, depending on application)
• Edit programs and adjust offsets as needed (CNC experience preferred)
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with safety standards

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

• 10 years of experience operating horizontal boring mills
• Strong knowledge of machining large parts and heavy components
• Ability to independently perform complete machine setups
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T
• Experience with precision measuring instruments
• Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

• CNC programming or editing experience (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar controls)
• Experience with large table or floor-type horizontal boring mills
• Overhead crane and forklift certification
• Experience in heavy equipment, oil & gas, mining, power generation, or industrial repair
• Technical/trade school certification in machining

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Comfortable working with large components and heavy lifting equipment
• Ability to work in an industrial shop environment (noise, coolant, metal chips)
