Upward Bound Grant Specialist in Sequin, TX 

Pay:

$17-19/hr

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8am-430pm 

Position Summary: 

The Upward Bound Grant Specialist assists with the academic achievement and pursuit of post secondary education enrollment for program participation

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with program recruitment. 
  • Assist with completing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) needs assessments and LASSI’s annually for new and continuing participants. 
  • Assist with monitoring student grades and tracking academic progress. 
  • Assist with after school tutoring, Saturday Sessions, and Summer Program. 
  • Provide college admission and financial aid process information. Support recently graduated seniors as they transition to postsecondary education. 
  • Assist with the documentation of services provided, tracking, and reporting.
  • Assist with pre and post evaluations for participants and parents/guardians.
  • Monitor outcome objectives, collect data, and assist in preparing annual performance reports/other reports as assigned. 
  • Develop and maintain professional outreach networks within target area communities and schools, serving as a liaison and point of contact as needed
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to promote personal and professional growth. 
  • Conduct other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 1 year experience with academic advising, college, and career preparation, and the college exploration/application process. 
  • Experience developing programs, events, trips, and workshops for students. 
  • Experience working with summer programs for students. 
  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaking/writing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or a related field. 
  • Experience with academic support programs that include academic advising, and the college exploration/application process. 
  • Effective writing and speaking skills. 
  • Experience with computer software (Microsoft suite) and database management platforms.
